GOLF FOR A CAUSE IS THIS SATURDAY @ Mays Landing Golf and Country Club

It has been 11 years and 4 relapses later, Dean is in remission, healthy and surfing stronger than ever. Passing his good fortune on, we are blessed to be able to serve our goals through the generosity of our thousands of supporters.
With the support of the Board, our loyal volunteers and participants, the 10th Annual Golf For A Cause is expected to be the biggest and most successful in our history. We anticipate an out pouring of support due to the tremendous amount of people we have been able to help, especially this past year.
“2012 was a year to be remembered for us, we lost people we helped in the past, we had very successful and outstanding events with an outpouring of support, to have our communities endure a Dercho, and then the horrific results of Hurricane Sandy” said Jill Perry-Zaborowski, Board member of the DRCF and Chairperson for the event, speaking on behalf of the Board of Trustees. “We know that no amount of money is going to cure the individuals we help, we simply want to make their struggles easier by not having to focus on finances as much while they are battling cancer. We are extremely sorry to have lost past recipients and want to honor their memory by raising awareness and helping others in their battle, especially now with those we help needing extra support because of the effects of Sandy” she said.
The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation is a New Jersey Non Profit and 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible. Donations to the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation are used to fund cancer research, promote cancer awareness and assist individuals battling cancer both financially and emotionally.
The Golf for a Cause is a FUN scramble golf tournament with hot dog lunch and a BBQ dinner, an amazing raffle and a fantastic time. You do not have to be a great golfer to play in this event and have a great time. Entry fee for the golf tournament is $100.00 per player and includes greens fees, a gift bag and event t-shirt, lunch, BBQ dinner and more. There are also many different levels of sponsorship opportunities available on the form and a need for raffle items.

We are proud to Announce the New Jack Nicklaus Apparel Line for Golfers.

Jack Nicklaus Apparel Fall 2012: Inspired by JACK

About Jack Nicklaus ApparelThe Jack Nicklaus Fall 2012 Collection is once again inspired by Jack himself, as well as the rich heritage associated with the game of golf.
Again, we have strong assortments across all product categories and products with many benefits and features within the product, as well as within the designs themselves.
A classic men’s palate of Navy, Black, Red and White is further evolved with the addition of Cobalt Blue, Shiraz, Dark Turquoise, and accents of Lime, creating an overall palate with a luxury and sophisticated feel. Colors have been used and combined to create both classic and sporty looks.
Double mercerized cotton polo shirts come in an array of patterns as well as long sleeve options.
The Cool Plus collection features a broad selection of patterns and color combinations, further evolving the performance category while still maintaining the performance attribute that this fiber is associated with. There are many pattern highlights including an engineered chest stripe, as well as the introduction of heather yarns and a strong, solid color program. There is also a long sleeve offering in this product range.
The Dry Range collection features a solid grid textured polo shirt that brings a touch of modernity to a core style, with bold and fine stripes within patterns bridging the collection and bringing it all together.
An increased assortment of woven shirts play on updated men’s patterns and styles. All of the colors are represented and each pattern is unique, thus offering the customer a reason to buy across all of the designs.
Sweaters are an increasing important category for fall. We have the introduction of a luxury Merino and Cashmere blended yarn with an incredible hand feel. It is offered in solid styles as well as a fine stripe and an updated argyle. We also have a solid ¼ zip with stripe inside collar, a textured diamond vest, a placed vertical argyle pattern, and a chest stripe offered in 100% Merino Wool. A new featured product will be the Pima cotton end-on-end ¼ zip sweatshirt with a brushed back, offered in a range of core colors.
A layering piece has been introduced this season to the outerwear category, offering more choice to the customer. A bonded fleece with four-way stretch jacket and vest with seam-sealing details use updated fabrications and design details to add increased interest within the performance outerwear. We also offer a luxury jacket in wool with a “Thinsulate” lining for increased warmth and added benefits.
For men’s pants, we are offering classic, flat front cotton and polyester styles, as well as introducing a new five-pocket jean model in both Corduroy and Bedford cord in a range of seasonal colors. Cotton, polyester and spandex make an appearance in patterns in another flat front style, with a micro hounds tooth and a window pane design.
The women’s collection has an increased design component to it for Fall 2012. Black, White, Pink, Lilac, and Haze Blue give a fresh palate and when combined in patterns, have updated the collection. There are long sleeve designs in both solids and stripes, as well as pieced styles echoing similar designs in the women’s sweater offering.
We are using the same Pima cotton brush backed jersey base for the women’s collection – this time, in a long sleeve full zip model. The introduction of a cotton modal blended yarn, as well as a continuation with merino, gives more depth to women’s sweaters. Engineered patterns abound for a fashionable take on classic shapes. Exploded geometrics and a diagonal stripe create a broad collection rounded up by a black and pink full zip cable cardigan.
Women’s outer wear takes its lead from the men’s collection. We are using the same bonded fleece and four-way stretch across models with a new highlight; a featherweight rip-stop for a women’s performance jacket. We have also reintroduced the full zip fleece, again giving more depth and laying options to the collection as a whole.
Cotton blends are used for women’s pants with an array of updated details and seaming. The introduction of Baby Corduroy and a women’s five pocket jean style, along with a “Tech” high performance pant serves to round out this category.
As always, in designing and building the collection, we have been conscious of the flexibility inherent within the designs enabling full merchandising and plenty of customer choice.

Golf season is here, are you ready?

I don’t know about you, But I’m certainly one of many who “let themselves go” over the winter, I mean come on, all that great food during the Holidays, who can resist?  All I can say is “Don’t worry” there is usually a fix for some of that.
Of course with a winter like this past one that was mild enough for us all to continue playing year round; packing on the pounds may not be as much an issue? But, if you feel a spring kick start is in order please read on as I hope this may help get you going for the summer Golf season.

In retrospect, a “lay off” will help most anyone who continually stresses over their game or how they have been hitting the ball and perhaps sometimes even their work schedule will get into their head, therefore a “break” usually takes a bit of the pressure off and even re-news your love of the game.

Perhaps give these ideas a try:1) Take a Lesson with your local club Pro. (All local courses have a Pro who will be happy to assist you with the “Swing”
2) Practice your alignment and aim with alignment sticks. (Can be purchased online)
3) Make a list of yourself proclaimed problems during a game. (Mine is extensive)
4) You can research and find drills that relate to your problem online. (So many sites to check that it’s mind numbing)
5) Work your research at home by yourself in your own backyard as often as you wish. (My favorite is “chipping” to a set point and my Dog retrieves the balls, she loves the quality time!)
6) Practice before you play, Put, Chip, Drive if you can at the course before tee time as it helps you to warm up the muscles that have been dormant during the winter months.
7) Garb those hot new clubs you got for Christmas and head for the course to have Fun!

Some other things that may help:

1) Video analysis of your swing. This will assist you to avoid pitfalls; also will help save hours of aggravation for you in getting ready for a very short golf season.

2) Take a Lesson with the Club Pro in a One-on-one format. He or she will assist you in ball position, grip, body position and even approach to the golf ball. For most serious golfers, fixing one problem can also fix many concerns.

3) Some high course pro shops and larger chain stores are now offering custom “fitting” of a high end club. Drivers and Irons are not all alike, so many of today’s golfers are now moving to custom fit and adjusted Drivers and Iron sets. This is costly in some cases but will offer relief from the club too short and even then, “I have to choke up to reach” days of old.

4) Be mentally tough when you play.  If you’re like me and hit a few shots poorly during a round, forget about it and go play and enjoy yourself, you’re not on tour buddy. Thinking too much about what you are doing is a mental game we all face, try to be very aware of what you’re thinking and always keep it under control, the mental game has ruined more than one round for most any golfer. Hey just like in Happy Gilmore the movie, Happy was playing terrible, then his coach told him to: “Go to your happy place, now putt “and he made that putt feeling less stressed about the round. Now that may sound ridiculous to you, but it really does work to take your mind off what just happened during your last shot. So to close this first article of the year, summer is coming, so is the golf season, so start getting ready to play by mentally and physically preparing yourself, but always keep in mind one easy saying: “JUST HAVE FUN”.
